How booking works with Taylor Bailey in the DMV: deposits, travel fees, party size, and FAQs on quotes for DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia.
Makeup Pricing / Investment in the DMV — How Booking Works
Makeup investment in the DMV is quoted per booking, not as a public menu. Dates, addresses, and party size are not the same from a Lorton studio lesson to a downtown DC gala morning. Taylor Bailey Makeup Artist sends a written quote after you send the details below.
Taylor is a licensed cosmetologist serving Washington, DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia on location, with in-studio appointments in Lorton when that is easier.
What a quote is built from
- Service — bridal, trial, wedding party, gala, prom, headshots, lesson, or consultation
- Number of faces and the order they need to be finished
- Ready-by time
- Address — home, hotel, venue, or Lorton studio
- Travel from Lorton when the appointment is not in studio
- Add-ons — trial on a separate day, touch-up return, extra lash or finish time
Two events on two dates are two quotes. Do not reuse last year’s number.
Deposit
A deposit reserves the date and time. The appointment is not confirmed until that deposit is received. The remaining balance is due the day of service.
If plans change, request a reschedule or cancellation at least 48 hours before the appointment. Late changes may forfeit the deposit. Late arrival can shorten the service; the booked rate still applies.
Travel fees
On-location work is the usual plan in the DMV. Travel is added when you are not coming to Lorton. The fee reflects distance, timing, parking, and building access. Hotel and venue names help. “DC” or “Fairfax” is not enough to price travel.
Party bookings and minimums
Wedding-party, bridesmaid, and group mornings are priced from headcount and clock time.
- List every face: bride, bridesmaids, MOB/MOG, anyone else in the room
- Large parties may need a longer block or a second artist
- A small group still needs a start time that finishes everyone before portraits
There is no walk-in party rate. Send the list with the inquiry.
Trials vs. wedding day vs. lessons
| Booking | How it is priced |
|---|---|
| Bridal trial | Separate visit, separate quote from the wedding morning |
| Wedding day | Bride time + each additional face + travel |
| Gala / event | Application + travel + optional touch-up |
| Prom / homecoming | Per person + travel or studio |
| Headshots | Usually one face; travel if not in Lorton |
| Lesson / consultation | Teaching time, not an event-makeup discount |
How to book
- Submit the contact form with date, ready-by time, address, service, and headcount.
- Receive a quote that includes travel and any party minimum time.
- Pay the deposit to hold the date.
- Confirm parking, suite number, and who is in the chair.
- Arrive with a clean face; remaining balance is due that day.
FAQ
Do you publish a price list?
No. A Lorton lesson and a six-person wedding morning in a DC hotel are not the same job. You get a written quote for your date and address.
When is the date actually reserved?
When the deposit is received—not when the form is submitted.
What does the deposit cover?
It holds the time on the calendar. It is applied to the total. It is not an extra fee on top of the quote unless a late cancellation forfeits it.
How far in advance should I book?
Bridal Saturdays, spring prom, fall homecoming, and DC gala season should be booked as soon as the date is real. Weekday headshots and lessons often have more room.
Is there a travel fee inside Northern Virginia?
Often yes if the appointment is not at the Lorton studio. Distance and time of day matter. Ask with the exact address.
Do you charge per person for a wedding party?
The quote reflects each face and the total hours required. A party of eight is not eight times a single-person gala slot if the timeline is tighter—or it may be more if portraits start early. The inquiry has to list everyone.
Is there a minimum number of people?
There is no requirement that you book a full party. There is a minimum amount of time that has to be reserved so the work can be done well. That minimum is part of the quote.
Is the bridal trial included in the wedding-day price?
No. The trial is its own appointment and its own line on the investment.
Can I use my trial as my wedding-day makeup?
No. The trial is to decide the look. Wedding-day makeup is applied on the wedding morning.
What if only the bride is booked and the party is undecided?
Book the bride first. Add faces in writing before the deposit window closes on a larger block. Do not add four bridesmaids the night before.
Do you require a second artist for big parties?
When the ready-by time and headcount cannot be met by one artist, yes. That is discussed before you pay the deposit.
What forms of payment do you take?
That is confirmed with the quote. Do not assume cash-only or a transfer method until it is in writing.
What if I am late?
The appointment still ends on time so the next booking—or your own portraits—stay intact. You are charged for the reserved block.
What if the venue changes after I book?
Tell Taylor as soon as the address changes. Travel and timing may change the quote.
Do you book last-minute?
Sometimes on weekdays. Peak Saturdays and honors dinners should not depend on a last-minute yes.
Who should fill out the form for a wedding party?
The bride or the person paying, with a full list of names and ready-by time. A forwarded “can you do our glam?” text is not a booking.
Are lessons cheaper than event makeup?
They are priced as teaching time. They are not a discount version of gala or bridal makeup.
